Unconditional, a Poem by Jennifer Welwood

I would like to share this poem with you, as it brings me comfort & a sense of hope every time I read it.  Sometimes when we are in grief, all we can feel are the loneliness, fear, sadness, or emptiness, which are all normal feelings. The above poem reminds me that even in the overwhelmed darkness and heaviness of grief,  a slight shift in our attitude or action may be able to ease our mind a bit, may it be connecting to others, taking a deep breath, or accepting the loss.  This poem also reminds me that there are strengths in each of us to help us go through the difficult time.

"Willing to experience aloneness,

I discover connection everywhere;

Turning to face my fear,

I meet the warrior who lives within;

Opening to my loss,

I gain the embrace of the universe;

Surrendering into emptiness,

I find fullness without end.

Each condition I flee from pursues me,

Each condition I welcome transforms me

And becomes itself transformed

Into its radiant jewel-like essence.

I bow to the one who has made it so,

Who has crafted this Master Game;

To play it is purest delight;

To honor its form – true devotion."
